Benefits of marketing your candidates
As an employer and a recruiter I’ve seen the downfalls and benefits of the recruitment process. How I would have loved as an employer when engaging a recruitment agency to be able to see not just a resume but a video of the candidate answering key questions.
Often resumes are not concise or poorly written (maybe through lack of experience) and doesn’t provide all the information that I would require as an employer. For example, I am looking for a Business Development Manager and may be looking for specific communication and body language skills and unique answers which can’t be found in a resume alone. I would be really impressed and find it very professional and innovative if a recruitment company shares documentation and videos of candidates. This would definitely give me a better insight to a candidate rather than words on paper alone. Also the translation from recruiter to employer may be slightly missed, where this system is accurate. I would also look more favorable on that recruiter for work in the future.
Video Interviews can be used to market your candidates?
In Australia there are more and more companies using one-way video interviewing software. Europe and the USA have been innovative in video recruiting for many years.
Here is a a great couple of ways of marketing your candidate to the employer. Firstly you can give a “blind audition” this means the candidates will not see all the questions prior and their answers are not rehearsed. The other method you pre-screen your initial candidates and have prior contact/interviews to create a good shortlist. You then give your shortlist candidates the key questions to be answered so they can practice, then send them the interview link. This will result in a more polished and professional approach.
When a candidate completes the interview and the recruiter has viewed and made comments/decisions on the interview they can share the candidates interview with an email invitation for review to the employer. Also they can add documentation such as the resume. The employer can review and rate candidates in their own time and provide feedback by the cloud based software or alternatively contact the recruiter.
Before you set up and interview, you are probably wandering what questions to ask the candidates. This can vary on the industry and level of position. However, in saying this their are standard questions that are suited to most positions. Use this link Top 10 Video Questions as a helpful guide. Also on the Video Interviewing platform their are question banks to help you.
